Mitica Rossa [Red]

How it is?

The Mitica Rossa is the result of a special recipe developed over the years by Birra Mitica, with the aim of obtaining a beer with a characteristic but not intrusive taste, which does not cover the palate with a long persistence. Featuring a blend of very different hops, this beer gives a malt flavor with a clean finish. It is of a beautiful ruby red color. To drink fresh but not iced, in its recommended glass, the Luttich.

Questions about Mitica Rossa

Alc. 4.1% - Ingredients: Water (Emilia-Romagna, Italy); Barley malt (90% Veneto, Italy; 5% Bavaria, Germany; 5% United Kingdom); Hops (UK)
Allergens: Barley malt

The bitter value is 24 IBU, so it is a beer with a medium, non-intrusive bitterness: slightly more bitter than the most common industrial red beers on the market. La Mitica Rossa is a beer of aroma, in which the bitterness is in the background.

In the British Isles they usually drink Red Irish at a temperature that we Italians find ... too hot. We recommend that you consume Mitica Rossa cold but not frozen: the ideal is at a temperature between 6 ° and 8 ° C, i.e. the temperature of the bottle 5 minutes after removing it from the refrigerator.

Mitica Rossa is perfect to accompany main courses, especially those based on red meats. It also goes really well with first courses based on full-bodied sauces, such as tagliatelle with meat sauce or risotto with sausage.

Red Irish Ale Style

The history of Irish red beers is at least "smoky": according to local mythology, the first beers date back to the 9th century, perhaps earlier. In practice, however, there are no certain data. There is certainly a strong resemblance to their English and Welsh "cousins", with whom they have a lot in common. Over time, ancient Irish recipes have been lost, and in the modern era Irish beer has been identified with Guinness, the world-famous dark beer. Also in the case of Red Irish, as for many other styles, the rediscovery took place thanks to the craft breweries, which have revived this style and spread it around the world. Much of the credit must go to North American brewers, among the most assiduous in proposing productions of this type to the point of creating curious (and tasty) hybridizations, such as the Red IPA. In any case, modern Red Irish Ales are a phenomenon of ten or fifteen years, almost all the result of recipes developed by breweries and not derived from tradition.
The alcohol content ranges from 3.8 ° to 5 °, with an average value around 4.4 °.
Red Irish should not be drunk ice cold but at a temperature of 5-8 ° C.
