Witbier & Belgian Blànche Style

This style of beer is historically very important, as it is believed to have been the first to introduce the use of hops in brewing. Born between Holland, northern France and Belgium, probably between the 10th and 11th centuries, they have known a long and very successful history. Unfortunately, the style disappeared briefly in the 1950s, when the last of the traditional breweries closed in Belgium, defeated by big industry. However, it was reborn a few years later, thanks to the will of an enthusiast who led to the birth of Hoegaarden, now an iconic beer of the style.
Witbier are beers made with wheat malt, thanks to which they obtain the light color that distinguishes them. These beers subsequently spread to many European and North American countries: the German examples (Weissbier) are naturally the best known. Traditionally, in Belgium they were flavored with blends of aromatic herbs and often with the addition of citrus, coriander or other spices. Clearly, each artisan producer uses his own particular recipe, so the differentiation of the final product is almost impossible to categorize ...
Alcoholic values range from 4.5 ° to 5.5 °, with an average of about 5 °.
The temperature in which they are best served is around 4 ° C.
